Photovoltaic system

As the PV array is mostly installed in the open air, the risk of direct lightning strike is high, which not only has a direct impact on the PV panel, but also has an indirect surge impact on the PV module, combiner box and inverter, and even has a double impact on the signal line. Therefore, appropriate surge protectors must be installed on the combiner box, both sides of the PV inverter, the main switchboard and the signal line.

Surge Protective Deviceapplicable Fields

  • Junction box of photovoltaic array: In the roof photovoltaic system with non-isolated lightning protection system ( LPS ), if LPV ( distance from photovoltaic array to photovoltaic inverter ) > 10m and LAC ( distance from photovoltaic inverter to main switchboard ) > 10m, it is applicable to photovoltaic DC T1 SPD; if LPV < 10m and LAC < 10m, it is unnecessary to install SPD;  In the roof photovoltaic system with isolated LPS, if LPV > 10m and LAC > 10m, it is applicable to PV DC T2 SPD; if LPV < 10m and LAC < 10m, it is unnecessary to install SPD;  In photovoltaic power plant and LPV > 10m, LAC > 10m, applicable to photovoltaic DC T1 SPD;  In the roof photovoltaic system without LPS, if LPV > 10m and LAC > 10m, PV DC T2 type SPD is applicable; if LPV < 10m and LAC < 10m, SPD may not be installed.
  • DC side of photovoltaic inverter: In the roof photovoltaic system with non-isolated LPS, it is applicable to photovoltaic DC T1 SPD; In the roof photovoltaic system with isolated LPS, it is applicable to PV DC T2 SPD; In photovoltaic power plant and LPV > 10m, LAC > 10m, applicable to photovoltaic DC T1 SPD; In the roof photovoltaic system without LPS, PV DC T2 type SPD is applicable.
  • AC output side of photovoltaic inverter: In the roof photovoltaic system with non-isolated LPS, if LPV > 10m and LAC > 10m, AC T1 + T2 SPD is applicable; if LPV < 10m and LAC < 10m, SPD may not be installed;  In the roof photovoltaic system with isolated LPS, if LPV > 10m and LAC > 10m, AC T2 SPD is applicable; if LPV < 10m and LAC < 10m, SPD may not be installed;  AC T2 SPD is applicable in photovoltaic power plant with LPV > 10m and LAC > 10m;  In the roof photovoltaic system without LPS, AC T2 type SPD is applicable if LPV > 10m and LAC > 10m, and SPD may not be installed if LPV < 10m and LAC < 10m.
  • Main switchboard: In roof photovoltaic system, AC T1 + T2 SPD is applicable; AC T2 SPD is applicable in photovoltaic power plant with LPV > 10m and LAC > 10m; For roof PV systems without LPS, AC T2 SPD is applicable.
