Combined Surge Protector
Combination type surge protective device. Combination of voltage switching type components and voltage limiting type components. This type surge protector can display the characteristics of voltage switching type or voltage limiting type or both, which is determined by the characteristics of the voltage applied by surge protection device.
To select an SPD, you first need to understand some parameters and their operating principles.
(1) The 10/350μs wave simulates a direct lightning strike and has high energy; the 8/20μs wave simulates lightning induction and conduction.
(2) The nominal discharge current In refers to the peak current flowing through the SPD with the 8/20μs current wave.
(3) The maximum discharge current Imax, also known as the maximum flow capacity, refers to the maximum discharge current the SPD can withstand after a single impact with the 8/20μs current wave.
