Voltage-limiting Surge Protector
Voltage limiting type surge protective device. When there is no transient overvoltage, it has high impedance, but as the surge current and voltage increase, the impedance of surge protector will continue to decrease. Its current-voltage characteristic is strongly nonlinear, and it is sometimes called "voltage clamping type surge protection device".
Discussion on SPD technical parameters and protection principles
(1) The protection voltage Up represents the voltage characteristic parameter between the SPD limiting terminals. Its value can be selected from a list of preferred values and should be greater than the highest value of the limiting voltage.
(2) Voltage-switching SPDs primarily discharge 10/350μs current waves, while voltage-limiting SPDs primarily discharge 8/20μs current waves.
