The ability of the blade receiver and lead wire to block and conduct lightning can be verified by one of the following methods:

(1) The performance inspection and test of blade surge protective device shall be carried out in accordance with the high voltage lightning test and high current test methods given in Appendix D of IEC 61400-24. surge protector shall be tested in a qualified test unit according to the specified test equipment, test products, required test layout and test procedures. (2) Blade types that can be demonstrated to be similar to the certified blade type (design) or there is documentation that surge protection device has successfully protected against lightning.

(3) Reliable analysis software for blade protection design verification with successful test results or successful service experience.
