When you need to remotely monitor the degradation status of the surge protector, you can choose a product with an alarm.
With an alarm, the surge protector can be equipped with a remote signal alarm terminal (dry contact), and you can choose an open circuit alarm port or a short circuit alarm port. When the surge protector is damaged, it can output a normally open or normally closed switch signal, as shown in the figure below:
